poems accepted?
We plan to include poems in the book, but we’ve received a large
number of fine poems, and are unlikely to need more. Still, we’ll
read your work and might still accept an unusually good entry.

fiction accepted?
We want true stories. If it is clear that your story is fiction, it will
not be accepted.

Do
I retain copyright to my work?
Familia Books is buying only the right to use your work for Wisdom of
Our Mothers. You will retain the right to use or sell your work elsewhere.

If
my story is accepted, what are my options for payment?
You may choose one of the following options:
#1 Donate $100 in my name to a shelter for victims of domestic violence.
#2 Pay me $100 for the use of my work,
upon publication of Wisdom.
#3 Pay me $200 for the use of my work,
one year after the date of publication.
#4 Pay me a share of the profits from
the book for the first two years after date of publication. Maximum: $500,
minimum $100. First payment is due one year from publication, and remaining
payments quarterly thereafter.

Who
is going to publish the book?
We (Familia Books) plan to publish the book online first, in electronic
format, available at this website. Once we can show enough demand, we
will find a publisher to do a print edition.

When
will the book be published?
Target date is the end of January, 2009 for online publication.
